Mrs. Journell is a science teacher and a lifelong resident of Springfield, Ohio. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and her Masters of Education degree from Wright State University where she also worked in a neuroscience research lab.  Mrs. Journell is a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar, and has received the Governors’ Award for Excellence in Youth Science Opportunities award, the Ohio Energy Efficiency teacher of the year award, and Teacher of the Year at Fairborn City Schools. She aims to empower students to succeed with their own unique strengths and develop enthusiasm for science and respect for the environment in their everyday lives. In her spare time, Mrs. Journell is working towards her doctorate in education and enjoys spending time with her family, running and fitness, cooking, gardening and music.
